Fiesta week September 11th and 12th
We need help with the following items:
1. Float Decoration
We will be decorating hayracks starting Monday – Labor Day evening. We need volunteers to help after work a couple of days. Please email Heather Sotelo at hsotelo@sterlingdevelopment.org if you are interested in helping.
2. Saturday Fiesta activities
Kids wear uniform
Kids need to be at the corner of Ave C & East 10th st. in Rock Falls @ 1:30 for the parade on Saturday
· We will be selling Dip n Dots during the parade on Saturday. Hours will be 12:00 – 4:00. We need volunteers to help push the carts around in downtown Sterling from 12:00 to 2:00. At 2:00/during the parade we will be located outside of the Chamber of Commerce (across from Kelly’s) and then outside of Raymond James. The parade will go right past both of these locations. We need people to help serve and take money. Please email Heather Sotelo at hsotelo@sterlingdevelopment.org if you are interested in helping with this.
· We will again have floats in the parade. Also a reminder to pull out your Vuvzelas from last year!! Unfortunately, due to the massive popularity of the horns we are unable to get more for this year.
* After the parade we will deliver the kids to Schied Park for parent pick up. At 4:30, in the park, the Knights of Columbus will be holding a shooting contest for the kids that want to participate.
3. Saturday after the parade set-up
We will need assistance of some strong men/women to get Scheid Park set up. This will take place after the parade on Saturday at Scheid Park. We have to get the goals, get tables set up tents etc. Please let Scott, Lou or Candy know if you can help.
4. Sunday park activities
· We have lots of things going on at the park on Sunday. Hours will be 8:00 am – 7:00 pm. This will be a long day for all of us, so we are hoping everyone can work at least an hour at one of the booths.
· First, we are having a craft/bake sale at the park. If you have Sterling United/Sterling Blue & Gold or Mexican themed craft items that you will make and are willing to donate, please email Julie Gearing at gearin5@comcast.net asap. If you could donate bake sale items (nothing that needs to be refrigerated please) please let her know. If you are willing to volunteer at her booth, please email her.
· We are selling “dipped” Dip N Dots at Scheid Park. We need volunteers to help at this booth. Please email Becki Edmondson at bedmondson@sterlingschools.org to let her know times you are willing to work.
· We are also selling hot dogs, chips, pop, water etc.. at Scheid Park at an adjoining booth. We need volunteers to help cook, serve and take money. Please email candydavila753@msn.com to let her know when you are available.
· We are asking for donations of chips and hot dog buns for Scheid Park. If you are willing to donate individually packaged chips and/or a package of hot dog buns for the event, please email Candy Davila at candydavila753@msn.com .
Kids wear uniform, 3 on 3 tournament starting at 9am on Sunday.
The 3 on 3 tournament will be a mixture of u-8/u-9 players then a separate group of u-10/u-11 players. I would like the u-13 players to ref the games for the younger teams, then the u-13 will play Dixon 11 on 11 @ 4. Schedules of playing and ref times TBA.
